Checklist F: Funding Opportunities

Consider these points for making the most of funding opportunities
Consider fundraising as part of your communications strategy
Develop a fundraising strategy including various targeted approaches
Build on the positive funding relationships those within your partnership already have
Have clarity within the organisation on the funding you need and what it is needed for
Ensure that you have the resourceswithin the project team to fundraise
Allocate fundraising responsibility to a specific member of staff
Ensure that you have a clear understanding of the various approaches that need to be made whether applications forms, sponsorship bids, advocacy work
Identify the principles you will apply to approach appropriate funding sources
Identify the benefits can your organisation can offer potential sponsors / other funders
Invest time in identifying appropriate target funders
Develop a well-researched database of potential funders
Consider developing a partnership agreement with an invester
Ensure funding approaches are timely and managed at an appropriate level
Build on the good will generated by funders support
Monitor and evaluate the fundraising strategy and feed the results back into future work
