Checklist C: Communication Strategies

Consider these points for successful communication
Check external perceptions with key stakeholders and target audiences [link to glossary]
Agree specific SMART communication objectives
Agree the principles underpinning your strategy
Work together on the key messages your partnership wishes to convey
Agree on the different formats to be used to convey these messages
Link back to the target audiences identified in your project plan
Ensure that the language used is consistent despite differences in domain traditions
Agree the ways in which responses to your messages will be handled
Agree on the specific tools need to ensure effective cross-domain advocacy
Keep a full and active list of communications activities
Maintain a continuous dialogue with target audiences
Monitor and evaluate communications as your plan is implemented
Feed the results of the evaluation back into this and future plans
