The role of digital cultural services in regional development: Conference in Roskilde, 13th November 2006
 
Creating innovative applications through local networks 
 
This is a first announcement for a one-day International Workshop within the framework of the LIGHT Operation www.light-culture.net funded under the European Union Interreg IIIC programme.

 
The workshop will bring together policy makers, senior practitioners makers and project participants from across Europe to discuss the emerging role of cultural heritage services in the digital age in supporting local and regional development. The meeting will also demonstrate a range of new applications and services, including those developed by the cities/regions of Bologna (Italy), Bekes (Hungary), Lisbon (Portugal), Roskilde (Denmark) and Veria (Greece) within the scope of the LIGHT Operation.
 
The International Workshop will take place in Roskilde, 30 minutes by road or rail from Copenhagen City Centre. The workshop is free of charce.
 
Presentations and posters
 
Short abstracts (200 words maximum) are invited for 30 minute presentations in two thematic areas:
 
Theme 1: Cultural heritage services in support of regional learning and social inclusion policies.
Theme 2: Cultural heritage services, regional economies and employment
 
Proposals (100 words) are also invited for poster/demo sessions to be held in the early evening.
 
The deadline for receipt of proposals of both types is 15th September 2006.
